The Curse is Broken

The Cincinnati sports curse has officially been broken. 31 years of postseason misery has been put to rest.

Bengals fans everywhere understandably became very anxious as the Raiders marched down the field on that drive. Flashbacks of past playoff games instantly came to mind. However, when Germane Pratt intercepted Derek Carr in the endzone with 12 seconds left, Paul Brown stadium erupted. It was official; the Bengals had done it.

In just his second season Joe Burrow has already exceeded expectations put on him when he was drafted. He remains calm and collected no matter how big the moment gets. After this win he told reporters, “Yeah we expected to win, on to the next”

The Bengals were able to win despite the offense not being very explosive. There weren’t very many of the huge receiving plays the Bengals put up against the Ravens and Chiefs. They played a dink and dunk style of short passes.

The major concern for the Bengals moving forward is their injuries on the defensive front. By the end of the game the defense was clearly gassed. It was announced that defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi will be out for the season with a foot injury. Trey Hendrickson is still in concussion protocol and whether he can play or not will be a huge factor.

The defense will need to be ready because Tennessee’s RB Derrick Henry is going to be back. Henry went out in Week 8 with injury but prior to that, was one of the league's top rushers. The line is going to need to limit Henry so they don’t get stuck on the field for large amounts of time.

Although the Titans are the one seed, the Bengals clearly have the better quarterback and receiving duo. The Bengals will need to take advantage of the passing game because the Titans have a strong run defense.

This is going to be a hard game for the Bengals, but they have already made history, so why not keep rolling on. “Why not us? “ as CJ Uzomah says.

Who Dey!
